Camp, 27th April 2024: Chaos ensued on Jaffrine Lane, a thoroughfare linking East Street with MG Road in the Pune Camp area, around 3:10 pm on Friday when a high-end luxury car collided with a scooterist before careening into a row of ten parked two-wheelers.

The driver of the car, identified as Ravindra Dhanwate (32), informed the police that he had lost control of the vehicle due to an epilepsy attack.

“We have taken the driver into custody and will be directing him to Sassoon General Hospital to ascertain the validity of his claim regarding the medical condition,” stated Senior Inspector Rajendra Magar from the Lashkar police station.

“Dhanwate resides in Katraj and is originally from Shirdi in Ahmednagar district,” he added.

The scooterist, Mohamed Anis Shaukat Ali Khatri (29) hailing from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, sustained injuries to both legs and is currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital, informed Magar.

“We have summoned the owner of the car to the police station and will be interrogating him regarding why Dhanwate was permitted to drive despite his epilepsy condition,” Magar emphasized.

“We have seized the car for inspection by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and have relocated the damaged vehicles off the roadway with the assistance of the public to prevent traffic congestion,” Magar assured.

“Additionally, we will be notifying the RTO to revoke Dhanwate’s driving license,” he concluded.
